Step – 1

Day 0: Chop Raw Materials

  • Dry materials: dried leaves, wheat/ rice stalk, grass
  • Green materials: green leaves, aquatic plants, weeds, grass
  • Fresh animal dung: <2 weeks old

Step – 2

Day 0: First Three Layers

Stack diameter: 4 feet or 1.2 meters

  • 9 pans dry material ; 1.5 pans water
  • 6 pans green material ; 1 pan water
  • 3 pans dung ; 0.5 pans water

Step – 3

Day 0: Repeat Layers

  • Repeat until stack reaches shoulder height
  • Cap with 9 pans dry material, 1.5 pans water
  • Cover with plastic sheet

Step – 4

Day 4 (after 4 nights): Heat Test

  • If stack is hot, then it is correct
  • If stack is warm, or cold, add dung to generate heat

Step – 5

Day 4 (after 4 nights): Moisture Test

Squeeze the material with your hand:

  • If 10 – 15 drops of water come out, it is correct
  • If too wet: dry the material in the Sun
  • If too dry: sprinkle 1 pan of water during turning

Step – 6

Day 4 (after 4 nights): Turn the Stack

  • Peel off outside layers
  • Start making a new stack nearby with peeled-off material
  • Continue until the old stack runs out

Step – 7

Repeat “Day 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16: Heat and Moisture Tests & Turn Stack”

  • Check heat and moisture
  • Turn the stack
  • Cover with plastic sheet

The stack is turned 7 times in total

Step – 8

Day 18: Ready for Use

  • Heat within the stack should cool off
  • If stack has not cooled down, then the process is not yet complete. Repeat turning
  • Storage:
    • Cover with plastic sheet or straw
    • Use within 6 months

Step – 9

Use Fertilizer to Grow Crops

Shivansh fertilizer can be used in 3 ways:

  • Apply when sowing seeds
  • Top dressing on existing plants
  • Broadcasting in large fields
