Message from Manoj Bhargava

In every great civilization through out history, farmers have worked hard, and cultivated their land to sustain their own families, as well as growing urban populations. Through out their lives, they would revive and enhance the fertility of their land, sow their seeds, and produce harvests that fed the world.

After a farmer’s years had passed, the land was passed on to the next generation. The land was always kept healthy and productive, because it was their way of making a good living, and it meant everything to them. Farms would thrive and produce abundant crop year after year. The soil was healthy and natural, without a trace of pesticide, or synthetic nutrient. It went on this way for millennia.

Today when we see news of land turning barren, toxic food, and millions of deeply impoverished farmers, we can only look at the past with wonder. The methods farmers used in the past were simple; ways of enhancing and reviving soil, using less water for irrigation, and growing strong healthy plants.

To really understand crop production, we experimented with our own land. It had been sprayed with pesticides and synthetic urea for years, and damaged the land, to a state we thought was beyond repair. To our surprise, in a short time, we completely revived the natural fertility of the land, and produced massive harvests, without any synthetic chemical inputs at all. Nutrient-dense food all year, using a few simple, free techniques. It didn’t take much for us to realize that these simple techniques could enable millions of farmers in villages across the world to produce the same abundance we did.

Our foundation has taken up the mission of creating clear instructional videos, for rural audiences around the world and posting them online, for free.

We don’t know where this journey will take us, or how many lives we will impact, but creating clear, easy-to-understand guidance will be a powerful first step.
